Welcome to Photo Camp — Live and In-Person!

Winter camps are 4 days this year to accommodate travel plans
Spring camp is 5 days

Atwater Photo Camp is a super fun and exciting 5 day photo adventure that inspires kids to explore their world in a deeper way. Through games and activities designed to challenge perspective, we build skills with camera, light and storytelling.

We begin with a basic overview of camera functions. Then through practice we learn how to make images, rather than take them. Each day we review our work, and on Friday we host an exhibit where campers showcase their work for friends & family.

Ultimately campers develop their photographic eye and learn new ways of seeing.

Daily Activities:

– Visual inspiration & discussion
– Instruction of styles, tools and techniques
– Assignments for the day’s expedition
– Photo expedition – morning

– Lunch
– Photo expedition – afternoon
– Photo review & discussion
– Final thoughts
– Fun Work

Each day and every week is completely unique

Photo Camp counselors are working photographers who have been in the industry for years. With experience in education and childhood development, they understand how to ignite passion and curiosity in a non-competitive environment.

What if my child misses a day during the week?
If you anticipate missing a day during the week, we encourage you to sign up for a partial week.

Does my child need to be vaccinated?
As of January 2021, CA state regulation requires that all campers be fully vaccinated.

Does my child need a camera to attend camp?
It’s ideal if campers bring their own cameras because each one is a little different and it’s good to be able to bond with your own camera. Also, we have fun (optional) assignments each night, so having your own camera is very helpful in this way. That said, we have extra cameras, which campers can use. Point & shoots are readily available. We also have a limited number of DSLRs, which are available for $10/day. ($100 fully refundable deposit required for all cameras.)

What kind of camera should I buy my child?
If you’re thinking of getting your camper a camera of their own, here are some of the cameras we recommend:

Budget Friendly

My kid has special needs…

Our first priority is to keep your child safe. At this time, we can not care for kids with disabilities, in accordance with CA state regulations. If you have questions, please call us and talk to us directly about your child’s specific needs.
